Welcome to LIFE!!

Kristin Smith

No one said life would be easy but we quickly adapted to this new understanding from the first time someone, most likely our parents or guardians, told us “No!”

Life throws us many adversities we must strive to overcome! I reflect on the pipeline dreams I had when I was younger, that dream timeline on how your life would pan out….the highly profitable career between 25 and 29, the undoubtedly beautiful pregnancy shared with Prince Charming or Princess Charm (whichever tickles your fancy), the mansion, the choice of cars, the amazing friends….and than there’s the reality. And even if what I’ve previously uttered was the complete opposite to what you envisioned your life to be, as you felt your calling was to run free in the wind like an untamed horse, live solely on the land and it’s riches and eradicate your life of any social conformities, have you fulfilled your early, misguided, inexperienced, and deluded preconceptions?

Us, as parents, have all experienced the never ending peaks and troughs of parenthood and each day can present itself a new set of challenges; like receiving a box of Favourites blindfolded (when you know you only enjoy the Cherry Ripe inside). Regardless of leaving each day to become an experience in itself, we all must make and be accountable and responsible for the choices we make in that day. Take time to self reflect, to replenish, rejuvenate and re-evaluate plans. Honestly, I would love to throw caution to the wind daily, live the previous life of spontaneity, complete selfishness, lacking responsibility and maturity but low and behold I made the choice to produce the three beautiful miracles I have before me. Now I may not be that two year old child begging for my 10th lollipop to only be told “No!” again, but I have grown and established resilience to the many adversities I face daily!

The wee little girl, that many adored and saw as their ‘daughter’ grew into a woman who is not afraid to grow, who is passionate about life, her family and her friends, who invests in people and her own business and who thinks life’s pretty awesome even though time and time again she may have questioned the process! And with that…my story begins…
